Gene Roddenbury’s epic Star Trek made the “replicator”, a machine capable of creating objects from thin air famous in the 1970’s, but it was George Smith that first wrote about an affordable and portable duplication machine in March 1943 over 70 years ago. Aircraft and car parts are already being produced using 3D print technology ultimately reducing the risk of fake parts and lowering the costs of delivery.
